- The AGM of Devon Folk was on Saturday 22 May 2010, at 6pm in Malborough Village Hall.
After the AGM there will be a folk dance with Sarah Bazeley and the Dartmoor Pixie Bank from 8 until 11.30. There will be a bring and share supper with tea, coffee and cold drinks provided.

Indigo Moss is the partnership of Trevor Moss and Hannah Lou. Residing in South East London they have been crafting and travelling with their folk inspired songs since the summer of 2003.
Indigo Moss were spotted in their natural habitat of London’s longest running cult acoustic club Hankdog’s “The Easycome“, by The Good The Bad and The Queen performer Simon Tong (Formally of The Verve, Gorillaz and Blur touring guitarist).
Later they were to sign to his butterfly recordings label and Tong would go on to produce their self-titled debut album, recorded at Damon Albarn’s ‘13’ studio.
“Indigo Moss” was released in April 2007 to wide critical acclaim.
Indigo Moss’s unique approach to their music is proving popular everywhere from the sweaty basements of Brighton to the Concert Halls of the Highlands. Their hypnotic live show and simmering chemistry on stage is both warming and haunting. Coupling desperate adoration of an era gone by, with incisive observation of our times, their odyssey together continues.

Plymouth Folk Festival Seasonal Concert
The third Plymouth Folk Festival Christmas concert, sponsored by the University of Plymouth’s Peninsula Arts, features another selection of lesser known and ancient carols and seasonal music sung and played on a variety of instruments by local performers.
This year, the organisers are proud to feature Compagnie Giulia from Totnes, who are gaining a reputation in the south west for their fine performances of mediaeval and renaissance music in costume. Others taking part include a capella harmony group Reynards’ Den (traditional and West Gallery carols); Dmitri Babachev (Russian Christmas music); Glynis Morgan (celtic harp and soprano voice); Strung Out (traditional carols with voice, guitar, cello and percussion); Martin Hazell (traditional wassailing songs); and The Ladies of Misrule, an all female mummers group. The MC is professional actor and storyteller Clive Fairweather, who will tell a seasonal tale as well as introducing the acts.
The concert again culminates in a mummer’s play, The Ladies of Misrule, performed by an all-female mummers group. Mumming plays have been performed at yuletide for many hundreds of years. The actors are disguised, sometimes in masks, outlandish costumes or by wearing coats of ‘tatters’. The play, in rhyming couplets (or bad poetry, with ad libbing), centres on the primeval battle between good and evil fought in midwinter. The celebration of the passing of the shortest day of the year gives hope for rebirth again in the spring. National heroes, such as Nelson, Drake, or usually St George (this year Good Queen Bess and Lady Macbeth are among the protagonists!) fight, and lose, against such evil. Thus pagan festivals such as the midwinter solstice are mixed with Christian ideas of sacrifice and rebirth in these mummers plays. Existing plays performed today are based loosely upon 19th-century texts, but the true age of these is unknown. This year expect a sense of mystery combined with humour and a modern twist!

Cos' Christmas Bash . An annual event enlisting the support of Cos' friends, many well know local "folkies" , Plymouth Morris and Plymouth Maids, and anyone interesting in an evening of seasonal songs, merriment and jollification, with a Mummers Play. Private ferry departing 7.30 pm (please arrive around 7.15pm) from Admiral's Hard, and returning at midnight. Ferry fare between £3-£6 depending on numbers!
